Junior and Adults bring home medals – Derby Runner XC League 2022/2023

Some fantastic results in the 2022/2023 Derby Runner XC League for Wreake and Soar Valley Athletics Club.

Gold in the overall league for Beckett (year 7-8),

Gold for Kellam (year 9-10)

Silver for Alana Drage (year 5-6)

Bronze for Isla Freeman (year 5-6).

There were also two special awards for Will and Toby Hutchinson for their commitment to the league.

In the Adult league we had 3 top 20 finishes, Angus Spence finishing 16th V40 in his debut XC league with the club, Michelle Findon 18th FV40 and Nicola McGlinchey taking Silver in the FV45 category!

Time to clean up and pack away those trail shoes now as we head into the Spring Summer months!

Opportunity, encouragement and support for all at Wreake & Soar Valley Athletics Club

Wreake & Soar Valley AC boasts a membership in excess of 250 members of all ages (from 7 years to adult) and abilities and although we have some extremely talented athletes who take things seriously when it comes to training and competing, the clubs ethos is that running and athletics generally should be fun and that each member should be given the support, encouragement and opportunity to thrive regardless of their experience or aspirations.

We offer coaching and training for all distances and running disciplines including our burgeoning and very successful sprints group.

Training is held each Saturday morning on the grass track at the front of Wreake Valley Academy in Syston with our Saturday adults meeting alongside the facility at the same time.

For our competing athletes we have sessions on the track at Ratcliffe College on both Mondays and Wednesday evenings. Attendance is by selection based on ability.
