The Young Athletes of Wreake Runners enjoyed a really successful weekend at the County Championships which were held in Nuneaton in conjunction with the Warwickshire championships.

Out of 19 performances there were 11 personal bests – a great achievement and demonstrates that the training is going in the right direction. Amongst all the great performances there are a couple to mention, Morgan was either the luckiest or unluckiest of the championships, unlucky for missing out on gold in both his events by a tenth of a second on each occasion – well done a great effort for a brace of silver medals. I would like to mention Jess who had she been in the Warwickshire race would have won the gold medal (not the only one to have done so) but was really thrilled to complete her week 12 seconds quicker for her 800m, it was unfortunate that she was suffering an illness and was unable to race the 1500 on the Sunday. The question is what could she have done had she been well???? Fern as I think everyone know knows won the county championship in a really high quality race which saw all top three finishers record the 5th/6th and 8th fastest times in the UK this year. Ferns time was also a county championship record!

Well done to all who performed so admirably for the club and I am looking forward to see the great perfomances continue.
