W&SVAC’s Claire Bryan has ran an impressive 30 Half Marathons over the last 7 and a half years and says Stratford, Plymouth, Leicester and Liverpool have been some of her favourites.

Back in 2016 she had her only ever DNS at the Coventry Half Marathon, so was determined to make it to the start line today, even after a calf injury stopped her from running completely last month.

Thankfully with a couple of weeks to go, Claire was back running, (slowly for her) and she “made it round without any pain” in 01:52:41.

Opportunity, encouragement and support for all at Wreake & Soar Valley Athletics Club

Wreake & Soar Valley AC boasts a membership in excess of 250 members of all ages (from 7 years to adult) and abilities and although we have some extremely talented athletes who take things seriously when it comes to training and competing, the clubs ethos is that running and athletics generally should be fun and that each member should be given the support, encouragement and opportunity to thrive regardless of their experience or aspirations.

We offer coaching and training for all distances and running disciplines including our burgeoning and very successful sprints group.

Training is held each Saturday morning on the grass track at the front of Wreake Valley Academy in Syston with our Saturday adults meeting alongside the facility at the same time.

For our competing athletes we have sessions on the track at Ratcliffe College on both Mondays and Wednesday evenings. Attendance is by selection based on ability.
